Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I will try to answer the usual questions here then time to time update this post with new questions along their corresponding answers.

Q: Are you a scammer?
A: Even if am one will i answer a resounding "yes???" (HAHAHA!) Kidding aside, I-am-not-a-scammer, i always do my transactions personally and give out my full name and contact details. The world is now crawling with spin-doctors and con-artists, but there are still honest and trustworthy entrepreneurs (like me, weeeeeeeeee!). You can also ask for my friendster account, telephone number, house address, and even office address if you want to "background-check" me.

Q: Why are your digicams priced insanely low?
A: No, my digicams arent priced insanely low, but the reality is that digicams found in malls are priced INSANELY HIGH! Mall prices usually becomes the benchmark aka "STANDARD PRICES" of digicams in the minds of people. Mall stores' prices are stacked with overhead costs from the following factors

1. Rent for space
2. Monthly bills for utitlities used
3. Profitability
4. Employees' salaries
5. Assumption of "DRY DAYS"

Q: Where do you get your cameras?
A: Let's just say that I HAVE LOTS OF CONTACTS from other countries such as SG, Malaysia, and Japan...

Q: Are your digicams "ORIGINAL?" (Baka naman gawang tondo lang yan!?!?!)
A: My digicams are made with same materials that makes up the digicams that are sold from malls. These are all "original," and are guaranteed to be brand new.

Q: What are your modes of payment?
A: I do not accept Credit Cards, checks, and swapping of any kind (even if you try to give me your whole stash of HUSTLER mags i will refuse it)... CASH ONLY. I demand an inital DP via bank account transfer to my BPI or Metrobank bank accounts. The DP values are as follows (these are non-refundable)

Sub P 10,001 cameras~ 2K Down Payment
P 10,001- P20,000 cameras~ 3.5K DP
P 20,001- onwards cameras~ 5.0K DP

Initially I will shoulder the balance of the client, and upon delivery "KALIWAAN NA LANG," I hand you the camera, you hand me the money. No full payment, no camera... I hope i made this clear. ^_^

Q: Where will you hand me the camera?
A: Depends on the location of the client. But i prefer Makati, Alabang, and some selected areas in Laguna only. Also, we will meet where there are people around, preferably in malls or fast food chains. Dark alleys and spooky caves are a no-no..

And dont try to mug me, i have people with me all the time...

Q: What are your freebies?
A: Canon cams = 512mb Ridata SDCARD
Sony cams = 512mb Sony memory stick

Q: Really? You're pulling my leg ryt?
A: No, Im not...

Q: Are these upgradeable into higher capacity ones?
A: Yup, just add 1K to upgrade your 512mb into 1Gb SDCARD/ MEMORY STICK.

Q: How about warranty? You have one right?
A: I give 9 months warranty to the digicam that you have bought from me with day 1 considered to be the day i hand to you the digicam. Units that will be proven defective under normal use or are factory borned are the ones that will be replaced/ repaired as stated in our laws. Warranty will not be honored on problems that were caused by mishandling, misuse, and tampering/ modification (both software and hardware), also, if the serial number of the camera is altered or removed in any way the warranty will be voided.

Q: No upgrading/ downgrading of unit?
A: Yup, no swapping/ downgrading

Q: Chicken or the egg?
A: Chicken...

Q: What are your "best sellers?"
A: Ixus 60 for its price to performance ratio, along with its stylishness and portability... And Powershot S3 IS, (a PROSUMER/ DSLR-like P&S camera) for its rich features and quality of images.

Q: Delivery time?
A: Assuming that the unit that you are planning to purchase has available units from my supplier, i will be able to deliver the unit to you in 1-3 days' time after the inital DP.

Q: Do you have discounts for bulk orders?
A: Yes, but it depends on the following factors

1. Model of camera
2. Number of units
3. Supplier's "LAST SAY"

Suggested megapixels for high quality prints

Usually people that inquire about my digicams has a wrong conception about the size of images a digicam can shoot in terms of megapixels. Megapixels isnt everything, BUT it is something. Personally, I look at a digicam model's optical zoom, LCD screen size, and battery type first before considering a digicam's max MP, because nowadays it is very rare to see a digicam being sold Mhaving less than 4MP and 4MP is already more than enough. Megapixels matter when you intend to print the image and hang it on a wall or something. Also, it is recommended to print the image @ 300 PPI (pixels per inch), though 200 (or even 150) PPI is still acceptable.

Formula: (W x DPI) x (H x DPI) = X
round of X to the nearest million value then divide it by 1,000,000 and you'll get the megapixel needed.

So, to be able to print a high quality image on a 4" x 6" paper,
(4 x 300) x (6 x 300) = 2,160,000 pixels~ 2MP

4 x 6 = 2.16 megapixels~ 2 MP
5 x 7 = 3.15 megapixels~ 3 MP
8 x 10 = 7.20 megapixels~ 7 MP
9 x 12 = 9.72 megapixels~ 10 MP
11 x 14 = 13.86 megapixels~ 14 MP
15 x 20 = 27.00 megapixels~ 27 MP
planet earth = ask-Einstein megapixels- EMC2 MP

Relationship of Aperture, ISO, and Shutter speed

So, you may ask, what are these labels for that you see on your digicam knob/ wheel? Just got these from www.DPreview.com, read on! ^__^

Aperture
Refers to the size of the opening in the lens that determines the amount of light falling onto the film or sensor. The size of the opening is controlled by an adjustable diaphragm of overlapping blades similar to the pupils of our eyes. Aperture affects exposure and depth of field.
exposure basics
ISO (or Sensitivity)
Conventional film comes in different sensitivities (ASAs) for different purposes. The lower the sensitivity, the finer the grain, but more light is needed. This is excellent for outdoor photography, but for low-light conditions or action photography (where fast shutterspeeds are needed), more sensitive or "fast" film is used which is more "grainy".

relationship of aperture and shutterspeed

Shutter Speed
The shutterspeed determines how long the film or sensor is exposed to light. Normally this is achieved by a mechanical shutter between the lens and the film or sensor which opens and closes for a time period determined by the shutterspeed. For instance, a shutter speed of 1/125s will expose the sensor for 1/125th of a second. Electronic shutters act in a similar way by switching on the light sensitive photodiodes of the sensor for as long as is required by the shutterspeed. Some digital cameras feature both electronic and mechanical shutters.

Nikon D40(DSLR)~ 23.7 x 15.5
Nikon D50(DSLR)~ 23.7 x 15.5

So what are these sensors for you may ask? I dunno! Who the hell cares?!?! LOL! Just joking, here is a cool article i grabbed from www.dpreview.com. READ ON!

The New Foveon Sensors

The cone-shaped cells inside our eyes are sensitive to red, green, and blue—the "primary colors". We perceive all other colors as combinations of these primary colors. In conventional photography, the red, green, and blue components of light expose the corresponding chemical layers of color film. The new Foveon sensors are based on the same principle, and have three sensor layers that measure the primary colors, as shown in this diagram. Combining these color layers results in a digital image, basically a mosaic of square tiles or "pixels" of uniform color which are so tiny that it appears uniform and smooth.

As a relatively new technology, Foveon sensors are currently only available in the Sigma SD9 and SD10 digital SLRs and have drawbacks such as relatively low-light sensitivity.

The Current Color Filter Array Sensors

All other digital camera sensors only measure the brightness of each pixel. As shown in this diagram, a "color filter array" is positioned on top of the sensor to capture the red, green, and blue components of light falling onto it. As a result, each pixel measures only one primary color, while the other two colors are "estimated" based on the surrounding pixels via software. These approximations reduce image sharpness, which is not the case with Foveon sensors. However, as the number of pixels in current sensors increases, the sharpness reduction becomes less visible. Also, the technology is in a more mature stage and many refinements have been made to increase image quality.

Active Pixel Sensors (CMOS, JFET LBCAST) versus CCD Sensors

Similar to an array of buckets collecting rain water, digital camera sensors consist of an array of "pixels" collecting photons, the minute energy packets of which light consists. The number of photons collected in each pixel is converted into an electrical charge by the photodiode. This charge is then converted into a voltage, amplified, and converted to a digital value via the analog to digital converter, so that the camera can process the values into the final digital image.
In CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) sensors, the pixel measurements are processed sequentially by circuitry surrounding the sensor, while in APS (Active Pixel Sensors) the pixel measurements are processed simultaneously by circuitry within the sensor pixels and on the sensor itself. Capturing images with CCD and APS sensors is similar to image generation on CRT and LCD monitors respectively.

The most common type of APS is the CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor. CMOS sensors were initially used in low-end cameras but recent improvements have made them more and more popular in high-end cameras such as the Canon EOS D60 and 10D. Moreover, CMOS sensors are faster, smaller, and cheaper because they are more integrated (which makes them also more power-efficient), and are manufactured in existing computer chip plants. The earlier mentioned Foveon sensors are also based on CMOS technology. Nikon's new JFET LBCAST sensor is an APS using JFET (Junction Field Effect Transistor) instead of CMOS transistors.
